Feel like I'm living in Inception!....Re-watched the MSU game!....

For a Sunday night we sure do got a lot of sh#t to cover!...

First and foremost the Michigan State debacle!... I can't call it a game, I gotta go with debacle!  I re-watched that nightmare courtesy of the BIG 10 network this week... So let's re-cap!...

1. Dayne Crist, off injury and on the road, in his 3rd EVER START!....carves up Sparty and makes him look ridiculous!....or should I say RIDDICK-ulous!... It was a joke!....3rd and 14....3rd and 10....3rd and 12...etc... The ND offense could not be stopped!... and for the most part MSU looked confused and slow....(Floyd fumbling in the first half kept us from completely gutting their confidence!)

2. Our defensive scheme as poor as it was, and with the boys trying to find their legs, were keeping the offense at bay...and the scores they did get seemed like lucky flukes!....

THESE WERE THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS?.... I have to say we GAVE that game away and it still took some MSU magic on the time clock in Overtime for them to accept the gift!....

Looking back at last season MSU and UM's biggest wins were against ND!... I mean really?...MSU beat Wisconsin by 10 and held the Badgers to under 130 yards passing!...Riddick I think had about that much himself!...

I'm embarrassed we lost that game....ashamed and embarrassed!.... We will pay Sparty back...mark my words!...

Moving on...

Douche Bag ALERT!.... This (clearly picked on in gym class) nerd in the black sweater is Brian Hamilton!...  Writer and KNOWN hater of Notre Dame for the Chicago Tribune!... I've got a bottle....of

GOLD RESERVE!.... for the person or persons who can bring me a middle school or high school picture and story about this guy to figure out how he got to be the little princess he is today!...There has to be some wedgies or toilet dunks to explain this guy's attitude!...

I was sitting on the deck...drinking a bit of the mother's milk...smoking a fine cigar reading the "Maple Street Express" TM!...LOL when I realized that!....

HOLY SH#T we got a legit shot for the first time in years of being VERY HARD TO HANDLE!...

Let's talk the first game!...

USF!...really?...USF?... Da Bulls?...

Look...this game on paper looks scary!...but what were their "big" wins last year?....Stoney Brook?...Western Kentucky?...Florida Atlantic?...Come on!...

You gotta come stronger than that!... Hell they lost to...Pittsburgh...that train wreck!...Squeaked by Miami!....then decided to lose to UCON as a finale!...LOL

So now we are supposed to expect them to get better?... because they lost 3!...3 Defensive line starters?... and...why because they ranked 101st in total passing?...Oh...but wait...they replace 3 starting Offense lineman as well!.... so that's almost their ENTIRE offensive and ENTIRE defensive line!...GONE!...and they can't pass!...

I don't need any more Irish whisky to tell me that the opener should be a game of getting our feet wet and perfecting certain aspects of our units!....

Coach Kelly-Coach Weis....What really changed?.....A LOT!....

Okay....this is a hard topic to except...but brothers and sisters!...Let's face it!....We have done an absolutely HORRIBLE job finding a "HEAD" coach for 2 decades!.... Not since Lou have we hired a "HEAD" coach...We've hired OC....DC....STC....etc... but not until Kelly arrived have we had a real head coach!...What a difference a leader can make!....

I had the pleasure of talking with several former players last night and seeing who got picked up by who!...etc...Ian went to the 49ers....Armando to Tampa....Stewart to NY Jets!....Walls to Atlanta....Hughes to DABears!....etc....

But all this conversations got me thinking!....and I asked some REAL questions....Now that those questions can be asked without worrying!....

This is a recap of the answers by one of the seniors....WHO WILL NOT BE NAMED!....

1. What would you give for just 1 more year at Notre Dame?
-Everything....I'd give anything and everything I got!.... I have great memories of my time at ND but still left without living up to what ND deserved...I didn't realize how special the place was until I was gone and not part of it on a day to day basis... I wish I could get 1 more year!....


2. From an insiders perspective what is the main difference between Wies and Kelly run programs?
-Same answer as before...EVERYTHING!...(laughing) 
First and formost Personality... Kelly is a players coach....he's there for you...Like a father figure...He wants you to succeed but at the same time he places responsibility on your head and you don't want to disappoint him...Weis was like going to work everyday....He was your boss...and your boss don't really give a shit if you got any problems or issues going on in your life...


3. The offensive scheme...who's scheme do you feel fit the college system better?
-That's hard to say....Cause Coach Weis could put up points...over 30 a game...but at the same time the better teams could easily figure out how to make us one demential fast...Kelly spreads them out...he tosses in a bunch of miss direction...passing...screen...runs...Much harder to figure out!...


4. As far as player development who do you feel worked harder on building the team!...
-No question Kelly....Coach Weis was a pro coach...and ran everything like a pro coach!... You come in and you can play...YOU PLAY....Your not ready to play yet?...get back to me when you are!... Sorry!  Coach Kelly would let you know what he expected and how...and then show you what you did that worked and how to fix what didn't work....I saw drastic improvement across the board in just one spring and fall!... That's part of the reason I'd give anything for another year!...It's not that Coach Wies couldn't develop talent...it was almost like he didn't think that was his job!....


5. What player do you think will break out this season!.....

-TOMA....he is ready!...extreme talent!....He is in my opinion the best slot receiver on the team!... Nobody can cover him....You need 6 yards...run a slant with Toma and you'll get 10!...He's gonna be a common name around college football this season!.....
****this is not the first time I've heard this!....Toma has impressed EVERYONE!...He is gonna be a force this season!....

6. Longo vs Mendoza (strength and conditioning coaches...) what difference did you see?
-Day one difference....we were no longer losing all sorts of weight during the season.... Longo allows no room for error!...  Coach Mendoza used to give us a list of what to do and just be like...GO!... Longo is way more hands on and motivating....he lets you know what each lift... each movement... each rep...what it's for and why!.... And then you see the results on the field!...and not just first game...the ENTIRE SESON!....  He makes you buy in..then you see the benefits!...


7. You have been staying in South bend since graduation...what do you see as the overall team attitude and how does it differ from say...the 09 season?
-In 09 we were getting a lot of hype...and we saw that we could do it....but we just never put it together one game after another.... Coach Kelly is a true motivator...when he arrived he addressed the team and said "If you do what I ask of you...and you learn what I have to teach...You will win!" Coach Weis used to say simular things...but they never really seemed to happen...with Coach Kelly we all bought in because we were seeing results....What he said was working....They see what is possible of themselves and they have tasted some success....now they are hungry for more!....


8. 4th quarter....3 min left...Your down by 6...your on the 20...you need to drive 80 yards for the win..Who do you want in the huddle and why?
-(laughing) You wanna put me on the spot!... Thats a fair question because I've been around and played with both QB's....Dayne has a stronger arm....makes all the throws...but Tommy....Tommy just has poise....In the huddle he never seemed to get rattled....Dayne needs to work on his poise or Tommy will take over were he left off....winning!....But Dayne knows what he needs to do!...


9.What do you see with the running game this season?
-Cierre is gonna be a force....he's shifty and much stronger than last season...He just needs to accept the role of starting running back and act like it...(this is something I've never thought Cierre lacked!...talking to him is like watching a movie trailer!) Jonas has the strength...talent...speed...size...you name it...he just needs that one run in the first game to show him...HEY!...I can do this!...  The new kid Cam...that boy is gonna push for time!...he don't talk shit...but he seems to have the "it" factor of a running back...  Wies seemed to break peoples confidence too much...he did more damage than good trying to motivate in his own way...


10. Last Question: Looking back at ND now that it's over...what regrets do you have....?
-Regrets?....I got a couple but mostly being throw in to action before I was ready....Ty didn't really recruit so when my class got here we were freshman playing seniors....I would have love to have a season to lift and learn... But mostly I'd say... Team...real team is not based upon what YOU do....but what you can push OTHERS to do...I should have pushed more people to be better....lead more by example...Kelly develops leaders!.... He won't let players get content...He doesn't want you to hold your tongue to your team mates....He says if someone is not pulling their weight...he shouldn't be the only one that let's them know!....This is a real TEAM now!...and I'm proud to have been part of it!


***this was one of the first times that this player and I have spoken so frankly since before he committed... He's grown up and become a great man....Notre Dame has made him a great man....

Remember IRISH brothers and sisters.... Notre Dame can never truly be down as long as the spirt of the IRISH lives on within the greatest fan base in the world!...

You look at the freshman class it's easy to say....Aaron Lynch I mean WE ALL KNOW HE'S GONNA KILL PEOPLE!....Stephon Tuitt....ISHAQ....The Atkinson Brothers!....etc... Let's talk off the radar players!...

But let me introduce you to Cam McDaniel!....My pick for UNDERRATED frosh talent hitting campus!

Numbers you ask?....how about this
Senior year!
Rushing:   1,956 yards  6.4 yards per carry...32 touchdowns!...oh...by the way throw another 489 yards receiving and 3 more TDs and over 41 yards per return on punt returns!..all this in one of the toughest high school leagues in TEXAS!....

High School HIGHLIGHTS!
Check out his high school senior film...he controls the game...and almost NEVER goes down on initial contact!.... this kid has YAC all over him!...(yard after contact!...for you UM fans visting)

I've heard that since he's hit campus he has made his presence known in the weight room as well as in the player ran 7 on 7 drills!...."He is a work out beast!.." one player told me..."very fast and very hard to get a hand on!..." as well as "he is gonna push for time right away!..."

He has impressed several people with his weight room work as well has his feet and hands are not the normal freshman...

With Cierre Wood coming back after his limited play in 2010 but leading the team in rushing....

the back field will be wide open for:

Jonas Gray....to step up and show what a 5'11 235 pound pure muscle back to do!...

 Either way...the IRISH running attack should be as good as any program in the country!....

Espically when you consider they will be playing behind what is sure to be one of the biggest and most dominate front lines in the country!.....

OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE AS BIG AS YOU HAVE BEEN FEARING!

OHIO stud William Mahone will be announcing his college decision on August 7th or soon there after...Look's like Notre Dame might add to the current raping of the state of OHIO of their big recruits!....

This kid has great vision...runs with power...and is a very aggressive runner!....

GOOD NEW'S IRISH NATION!.... Thanks to the NCAA and the league of officials after review and conformation they have agreed that for the FIRST TIME IN MICHIGAN FOOTBALL HISTORY the Notre Dame vs Michigan will NOT use Big 10 referees.... THANK GOD!...

Anyone who watched the 09 ND vs UM game will tell you that Rich Rod must have been sleeping with the refs for the lack of calls....bad calls...blown calls....that cost us 14 points!...and the game!....

We don't have to worry anymore the BIG EAST refs will be in the house for the night game and you won't have to worry about our WR's getting molested like they are one of the Manendez Brothers!...or "phantom" calls that call back our TD's!....

Tommy, a true freshman was thrown into action when starter Dayne Crist went down with a season ending injury and hit the ground running!...

Tommy is one of the most under the radar soon to be sophomore QB's in the country!....

He controls the game...has a great knowledge of the position..and a calmness that 18 year old's DON'T EVER HAVE!...

Who missed 5 1/2 games and still passed for over 2000 yards 15 TDs and 60 % completion ratio!...

I think Desmond is more bitter about the 2-1 record he has against ND than we WILL EVER KNOW!

I mean I know the two beatings he took at the Hand of the IRISH were when his UM team was ranked top 5 in the country..but let it go!....Everything worked out fine...you get to wear REALLY bad suits....Butcher the english language and smile like a moron on TV every Saturday during college football season!....Not bad for a guy that if he didn't play football would most likely be talking over a PA saying.."uh sir...pump 7 is pre pay only!"

-Dayne missed 8....cout'em 8 possessions in the first half....all eight....NO POINTS!... With Dayne in the game we out scored that shell of a team 28-7!....YOUR WELCOME!... Now I gotta worry about Denard again?...YES!... but not as much!...I think Hoke is a good man...but as a head coach...The verdict is still out!...he's less than 50% winning as a head coach!....
Dayne doesn't get hurt in the UM game....34-17 IRISH!...

b. MSU-....Two words....PLAY CLOCK!....
Don't even get me started!....people wanna say "well the Big 10 reviewed it..."What are they gonna
say..."sorry we fu#ked ya!..."  So your telling me that during the U$C game they used the TV play clock to determine how much time to put up after B.Smith knocks down the pass just before half....but MSU's clock was off?....EAT ME!...

E. Navy...scheme!...ass whipping!...

So with all that being said....Don't tell me this team is not ready!....Dont' tell me that a run to Stanford is not in the cards!...(baring MAJOR injury) Don't tell me that UM....(new coach...new scheme....etc) and MSU...(it's MSU they are bound to shoot themselves at some point) can't be beat!....

THE BEGINNING....

I thought with this being the beginning!...the 1st issue collectors edition so to speak....that only a pic of me and Jesus (okay that's Jim Caviezel...he played Jesus in Passion!) would be appropriate!..

College Football is one of the only things that keeps me from climbing a clock tower with a high powered paint ball gun!....I'm not nuts!...just frustrated!....You try living in a town were the local fan base thinks that their team is "one of the big boys" and has only 4 outright conference championships and 1 National Championship in the 40 years I've been living!....LOL...yeah..you guessed it!...COLUMBUS "home of the delusional" OHIO!...
